On Thursday, March 28, I had the pleasure of speaking to some of the students at DDSO (Developmental Disabilities Service Organization) about photography. The school, located on St. Mark’s Way in Sacramento, has an arts program where students learn such skills as photography, video & audio production and marketing (and make money doing it), as part of its DDSO Employment Plus program. Additionally the program provides employment opportunities to students in landscaping, clerical and aid positions.
After speaking to the students and answering their questions (much tougher than any questions I could’ve thought of), we scouted out locations and I was able to give them a few photography tips, such as why you might want to still use a flash outside. Afterwards, I did a photo shoot with one of their instructors in the arts programs and local actress, Eliza Webb. Here are a few of the photos from that shoot.
